Jerusalem

So you want to know the words to Jerusalem by William Blake? I'm being asked a lot recently. I wonder why? Well, here they are for you:

Jerusalem
By William Blake.

And did those feet in ancient time
walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of burning gold:
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of fire.

I shall not cease from Mental Fight
nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand
till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green & pleasant Land.

Hope you enjoy many a rousing verse, and when the TV reporters stop you on the street you will now be able to stun them into silence with your word-perfect rendition. You will also be able to astound your friends with your better-than-pub-quiz knowledge that this is where the film 'Chariots of Fire' takes it's title from. But of course you knew that already...

Ciao,

Albion.
